Sexual assault can take on many forms including rape, forced sexual acts or sexual act with another person’s body without their consent. Depending on the circumstances it could be either a misdemeanor or felony.
Persons participating in organized sports at schools, colleges and universities and in clubs and gymnasiums may be especially vulnerable to sexual assault by coaches, trainers, volunteers, team members, or team physicians.
These assaults may take the form of unwanted touching or fondling by trainers and coaches or medical procedures by team physicians that include contact with the genital area or other inappropriate contact.
Any sexual or inappropriate conduct by an adult involving a child may be a crime, even if the victim consents, and should be immediately reported to authorities.
