Morgan is admitted to the State Bars of California, Texas and New York; as well as the United States Federal District Court for the Eastern, Northern, Southern and Central Districts of the State of California. He also has the honor of being admitted before the United States Supreme Court. Morgan has served as pro hac vice counsel, for select matters, in the states of Arizona, Oregon and Nevada.
A sought-after expert in real estate and business law, Morgan has written numerous articles on real estate and legal issues for numerous industry trade publications, including, among others Units Magazine, Multi-Housing News, Multi-Family Executive, Builder and Developer Magazine, Building News Network. He is frequently sought out by publications to comment on emerging trends and legal issues that face the residential and commercial sectors. He has also been a frequent speaker at industry events held by real estate trade groups.
Morgan Stewart devotes his practice to advising national, regional and local multi-family entities, homebuilders and commercial real estate clients and each of their related industries on legal issues including real estate transactions and litigation, construction contracts and litigation, insurance issues, commercial disputes, environmental litigation, indemnity, general corporate formation, contract negotiation and contract litigation, risk management, risk avoidance, employment litigation and personal injury.
Over his years of practice, Morgan has been fortunate to call as his clients not only more than a dozen of the largest nationally based owners, managers and developers of both multi-family and commercial real estate, but also several of the most significant regional and local real estate companies that operate in the Western United States and in only in California. He also represents a number of related companies that serve these entities, including environmental companies, brokers, and construction companies. The breadth and depth of matters handled by Morgan for these clients has provided him with the perspective that there is no transactional or litigation matter that he has not seen or confronted in a real estate context.
Morgan's clients trust him not only in a litigation context, but to provide guidance and instruction on how to avoid and limit conflict well before it occurs. Providing counseling and review documents including corporate formation, contracts, leases, loans, insurance and indemnity, to avoid litigation is a core of Morgan's business practice. Acting in many instances as a de factor general counsel, he is frequently asked to guide his clients out of conflict, or when necessary to prepare their litigation strategy.
Morgan is a recognized litigator that is renowned for handling civil litigation both on the State and Federal levels. He has handled cases that include multi-million dollar demands, as well as multi party litigation, consolidated actions and class actions working as both plaintiffs' counsel and defense counsel.
Morgan, a Southern California native, attended San Diego State University
and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis
in creative writing. He received his J.D. from Pepperdine University School
of Law, where he served as an editor and managing editor for the Pepperdine
Law Review and clerked for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office,
handling criminal felony and misdemeanor cases.
Prior to becoming associated with Manly, Stewart & Finaldi, Morgan was associated with predecessor firms, Manly & Stewart, Manly, McGuire and Stewart, and Freberg & Manly in Irvine, California. He also formerly practiced in the corporate litigation department at Proskauer Rose, a large civil litigation law firm with offices worldwide.
